First book deal landed on Bin Laden manhunt

Surprise, surprise, the books are being signed up already.

A New York Times blog, "MediaDecoder," reveals that the first to snare an advance and a contract is Peter Bergen, bestselling author of books on Al Qaeda and the war on terrorism.

He has been contracted by Crown Publishers (a division of Random House) to write the "definitive" book on the hunt for Bin Laden.

The publishers describe it in confident terms as "an immersive, definitive account of the operation that killed the world's most wanted man."
